Velo announcements

🎲 Velo v1.2 is out — meet Random Fail (like NanoMIDI)

You know the Humanizer that makes Velo play like a real person? This is its evil twin. 😈

Random Fail adds human mistakes to playback — a note that rushes, drags, or slips to the wrong key. Two sliders, full control, off by default. Flip it on in Settings and let Velo "miss" a few like the rest of us.

🪟 Windows → grab Velo-win.zip from the release, unzip, run Velo.exe
🐧 Linux → git clone + ./install-linux.sh (adds it to your apps menu)

Everything from v1.1 (Linux support, Humanizer, Stage piano…) is in there too. Enjoy! 🎹

🐧 Velo now runs on Linux!

Big news: Velo officially supports Linux now — Fedora, Ubuntu/Debian, Arch and openSUSE. 🎹
Quick one-time setup that drops Velo right into your apps menu (no terminal after that):

git clone https://github.com/brenucode/velo-midiplayer.git
cd velo-midiplayer
./install-linux.sh

Then just search "Velo" in your applications and open it like any other app.
Everything works — the player, in-app sound, Practice and Stage. The only thing that needs an X11/Xorg session is typing into other apps (game pianos like Roblox / Virtual Piano), since Wayland blocks app-to-app input. Everything else runs on both.

Huge thanks to rawr for being the first to test it on Linux 🙏 <@1268198872208113675>

🎹 Velo now has a website — velomidi.com is LIVE

What you'll find:

• 🎼 A free MIDI library — hundreds of songs, search & download, no paywall
• ▶️ In-browser preview — watch the notes fall and hear the real Grand Piano before you download
• 🎮 The Velo player — MIDI → keys to autoplay piano games, play to any output, Practice mode, and the built-in Hub

🎹 VeloScribe Bot <#1519111693370786016>

This is the bot version — handy for a quick transcription without leaving Discord. But be honest with yourself first:

⚠️ The desktop APP is WAY better — use it if you can
This bot runs on a small free server, so it's slow (a few minutes per song), handles one request at a time (you'll wait in line if it's busy), and has size/length limits.

The app runs on your own PC → much faster, no queue, no waiting, plus a live preview, an 88-key piano roll, and playability controls. Night and day.

---

🤖 Still want to use the bot?
Type /transcribe and pick one:
• file — upload an audio file (mp3, wav, m4a, flac…)
• link — paste a song link

Then wait — I'll update the message while I work and send you the .mid. 🎶

ℹ️ Bot limits (it's a free little server, go easy 😅)
⏱️ A few minutes per song · 🔂 one at a time · 📏 max 6 min · 25 MB · short cooldown

TL;DR: the bot works in a pinch, but for the real deal, get the app. 🎹✨

🎹 Introducing VeloScribe — turn any song into a playable MIDI

Ever wanted to play a song in Velo but couldn't find the MIDI? Now you can make it yourself.

VeloScribe is Velo's new companion app: drop an audio file (or paste a link) and it transcribes it into a clean piano .mid — saved straight into your Velo queue.

What it does
🎼 State-of-the-art piano transcription — real notes, not ghost notes
🎧 Preview on a real piano + piano roll before you save
🎚️ One-click playability: full → two hands → melody only
🌐 Works from links too (1000+ sites)
🔒 Runs 100% on your machine — nothing is ever uploaded

⬇️ Download: https://github.com/brenucode/veloscribe/releases/latest

⚠️ Heads up: it's a brand-new unsigned app, so Windows/your antivirus may call it "unknown" — that's a false positive (a code-signing certificate costs ~$300/yr). Just click More info → Run anyway. Full details on the download page.

Same look, same family 💚 Let me know what you think!

🎉 Velo now has a community server! And v1.1 just dropped:

🎭 Humanizer — kills the robotic MIDI feel (chords roll, tempo breathes).
🌐 Online Sequencer added to the MIDI Hub (3 libraries now).
▦ Stage mode now plays the piano as the notes fall.
🔔 Auto-update — Velo tells you when a new version is out.

Built on the nanoMIDIPlayer engine (GPLv3). Any feedback is very welcome 🙏
