VeloScribe Update — Introducing /musescore & Instant Cache! 🚀

A brand new power feature is here — you can now fetch sheet music directly inside Discord.

We are introducing the /musescore engine completely from scratch, powered by a native backend and a smart local database layer. No more external dependencies or slow web scraping.

🎹 The All-New /musescore Command
You can now convert any sheets from musescore.com instantly. The engine hooks directly into the media APIs to pull clean, high-fidelity files directly into your chat.

⚡ Built-In Download Cache
We launched this feature with high-scale optimization. If anyone converts a link, VeloScribe stores it securely. The next person to request the same link gets the file instantly (< 1s) with zero waiting time.

⚙️ Full Format Flexibility
It doesn't matter if you need to play it, print it, or edit it. The bot handles the three major formats seamlessly.

Type the slash command, paste your link, and select what you need:

• score_url: The full musescore.com link.
• type: Choose between MIDI (.mid), PDF (.pdf), or MusicXML (Defaults to MIDI if you don't choose one).

🎹 New: choose your transcription engine!

Huge thanks to <@1188448675140223039> for the suggestion 🙌 — thanks to them, VeloScribe now has a second transcription model you can try: ByteDance, right next to the classic Transkun.

⚠️ Heads up: ByteDance is a test version for now. We added it so we can compare both engines and figure out which one is actually better — nothing is changing permanently yet.

Next time you run /transcribe (audio file or link), you'll see two buttons — 🎹 Transkun and ⚡ ByteDance. Run the same song through both, compare the MIDIs, and see which one nails it better.

Then tell me: which model gave you the better result? 🎼
Reply here with your verdict (and ideally the song you tested). Your feedback decides which engine we keep as the default. 🙏

Velo v1.8.4

Velo v1.8.4 🎹

This one's all about making Velo lighter, faster and smoother — especially on weaker PCs — without changing a thing about how it works. Plus a few fixes you asked for.

⚡ Lighter & faster
Velo now does far less work behind the scenes: idle animations pause when there's nothing to show, it uses noticeably less memory (the mini-player and Select Music windows load only when you open them), songs start playing quicker, and there's less strain on your CPU and GPU while you play. Same Velo — just easier on your machine.

🖼️ Every wallpaper works now
Some backgrounds (heavier images) used to show up blank. Not anymore — Velo automatically optimizes any photo you pick so it always renders, whatever the format or size.

📌 Mini-player & Select Music remember their spot
Drag the floating pill (or the Select Music window) wherever you like and it stays there — even after you close and reopen Velo. They also open near the top now instead of tucked in a corner.

🐛 Fixes

• The "note-trail preview" in Short Notes settings no longer starts blank.

Velo v1.8.3 — Sound packs, instant preview & a cleaner UI

A big comfort update — Velo is easier on the eyes and can finally sound like your keyboard.

⌨️ 10 keyboard sound models (up from 1)
Nine new mechanical & typewriter packs added — Topre, Holy Pandas, Cream, Turquoise Tealios, MX travels and more. Find the one that feels right.

A play button right next to the Keyboard Model — hear any pack instantly instead of guessing.

🔎 Searchable dropdowns everywhere
Every picker in Velo (music, keyboard, background, mode…) is now a clean, searchable list. Just start typing.

⚙️ Settings, reorganized
The Settings tab is now four tidy sub-tabs — Appearance · Playing · Controls · About — with a smooth sliding accent. Everything's where you'd expect it.

🐧 Linux support
The floating pill and the Select Music window now work on Linux too.

Velo v1.7.2 — updater cleanup 🧹

Tiny fix 🧹 — the auto-updater was leaving a temp folder behind in %TEMP% after each update. Now it cleans up after itself.

Already on v1.7 / v1.7.1? Hit Update & restart in the banner and Velo installs it. 🔄

Velo v1.7 — Custom backgrounds + auto-update

Two big ones this update 🎨

🖼️ Custom backgrounds — Settings → Appearance → Background. Your own photo (darken/blur/fit) or a gradient preset (Aurora, Mesh, Sunset, Rosé…), plus gradient glow, vignette, film grain and a slow animated drift. Lower Panel opacity to turn the cards to glass.

🔄 One-click auto-update — when a new version drops, just hit Update & restart in the banner. Velo downloads it, swaps itself out and reopens on the new version — no more manual download-and-extract. (First automatic update kicks in from v1.7 onward.)
