Velo v2.0

⚠️ Before updating — back up your songs

If you unzipped Velo inside Documents\Velo, the old updater replaces the app files and can wipe your Midis folder and settings. Copy Documents\Velo somewhere safe before you click "Update and Restart".
Good news: from 2.0 on this never happens again — the updater now preserves your Midis, Backgrounds, Compositions and config, and auto-backs them up when it detects that kind of install.

🎹 Velo 2.0 — make your own music

The biggest update yet. Velo isn't just a player anymore — it's a full MIDI studio.

✨ Compose — a built-in piano-roll editor:

• Record on your keyboard (with a 3·2·1 count-in), paste a Virtual-Piano sheet, import a MIDI, or draw notes with the mouse.
• A clean studio visualizer: real piano keys, glossy notes, a ghost-note preview so you always see where a note lands, a pitch/position readout that follows your cursor, zoom-to-cursor, scrub-to-hear, and loop shading.
• Save to your library, export a .mid or a sheet, or Publish straight to velomidi.com.
• Works both in the app and on the website → https://velomidi.com/compose

🎹 One keyboard, everywhere — a unified MIDI-input layer, so your MIDI keyboard works the same in Practice, MIDI→Keys and Compose. Windows and Linux.

↔️ Expandable mini-player — drag the pill's edge to widen it so long song names fit.

🐧 Linux support + lots of fixes and polish throughout.

How to update

• Windows: download Velo-win.zip below, unzip, run Velo.exe. (Back up Documents\Velo first — see the top.)
• Linux: clone the repo and run ./install-linux.sh.

BEFORE UPDATING SAVE YOUR MIDIS IN ANOTHER FOLDER. PLEASE! DO NOT UPDATE YOUR VELO WITHOUT SAVING THE ANCIENT .midis

Velo 1.9

🎹 Velo 1.9 is out — Velo Scan

⚠️ Read this first. If you unzipped Velo inside Documents\Velo, updating from an
older version wipes your Midis folder and your settings. **Copy Documents\Velo
somewhere safe before you click "Update and Restart".** From 1.9 onward this can't
happen again — Velo protects those files and backs them up for you.

🔎 Velo Scan — Settings › Library. Find every MIDI already sitting on your PC and
pull it into your library. You choose where to look. Results come in grouped by folder
while it scans, so one click on Ignore throws out a whole folder of junk — for good.
Nothing is copied until you pick what you want. No duplicates (it compares contents, not
filenames). Don't like the result? Undo.

Thanks to ÆThosGD and ⸝⸝ ⟡ — this is a button in Settings, not an automatic scan,
exactly like you asked. And there's a "Check on startup" toggle, off by default.
